Information ServicesPrint, scan or copy

Printing, photocopying and scanning facilities are available in the Library, in centrally-managed PC suites across campus, and at the Student Experience Helpdesk on Level 4 of the Teaching and Learning Building.

How to print, scan and copy

You can use our multi-function devices (MFDs) to print, photocopy and/or scan.

You can use the MFDs to print and copy in:

  • mono (greyscale), or
  • colour

Double-sided printing is the default setting on our printers. Make sure you change the print settings before sending to print if you want to print single-sided sheets. You will be charged the same amount per sheet whether you print single or double-sided.

The MFDs can print and copy on A4 (210 x 297mm) or A3 (297 x 420mm) paper.

Visit Print Services or the plotter in Stenhouse Wing room 6.01b if you need to print on paper bigger than A3.

Print from your own device

You can use University printers to print from your own device. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Download and install our print driver for Macbook (zip file). Follow our Accessing Network Printers on Mac instructions to help with the installation.
  2. Upload your document to our webprint service. Please note, only double-sided printing is possible when using the webprint service. Choose another method if you want to print single-sided sheets.

Ask at the Enquiry desk or contact us if you need help printing from your own device.

Using the MFDs

You need your DS username and password to use the MFDs. Visitors to the Library can also use our printers. Please ask at the enquiries desk or see our In Depth page for more information.

Printing and copying prices start from 5p per sheet.

Scanning is free of charge.

Adding credit to your print account

We give all new students £1 of print credit for free.

You can add credit to your account with a:

  • credit or debit card at print app
  • credit or debit card at the print kiosk on Level 3 of the Library

Please don't buy more credit than you need. We can't refund unused credit at the end of your studies, and you can't transfer your credit to another student.
